Cyber Shy

Hello, I am Deb. It's my first blog. Umm shuffle shuffle I feel shy! OK, off we go...
I've been reading Gwen Marston and Freddy Moran (Thanks Material Obsessions girls for the homework!) and I just love that they show you how their quilting style has progressed by running through all the quilts they have made from their first. It just proves that creativity has to grow and develop, and the best is always yet to come. Isn't that just permission to keep buying fabric and making lots and lots of quilts?!?!
I'm a bit obsessed with getting people to make their first quilt, because they can't fail to be hooked can they?
I suppose I should start at the beginning and show you my first quilt? OK here it is on the bed (and a sneak preview of one of my latest baby quilt kits on the rocking chair in the background for the sharp eyed!).

Lovely isn't it? Actually its a bit of a cheat as I didn't piece my first quilt myself. My first quilt seduced me on US eBay - it was a slightly tatty unfinished quilt top of butterflies in feed sacks and I adored it, had that eBay rush of blood to the head, bought it for too much money bidding at 3am, and drove 150 miles to a quilt shop (the lovely Axminster Quilt Store in Milton's Yard in Axminster, Devon - go there if you're nearby - it's my favourite UK quilt shop) to find out how I could finish it.

That was in 2007, I've made nearly 30 quilts since then, so you can see the bug well and truly bit! Here it is again..yumm.

I wonder who appliqued it? Any US readers recognise it? Wouldn't it be amazing to find out?!Anyway, the first post wasn't too hard, I'll be back! I'd love it if you'd send me a picture of your first quilt and your latest, I'm fascinated by it!
